HTMLDOC for IBM i

HTMLDOC is software that's available as Open Source (GNU GPL v2) or under a commercial license. This site distributes the Open Source version only, in compliance with the GNU GPL v2 license.

You can download my build of the HTMLDOC software here. This utility converts HTML to PDF, and runs in PASE under IBM i.

Requirements & Instructions

  1. Download the binary version to your IFS. (For the sake of example, I'll assuming you downloaded them to the /tmp directory.)

  2. Make sure the download was done in a binary-safe fashion (such as HTTP, FTP in binary mode, SCP, NFS, Windows Networking with Netserver translation off, etc.)

  3. Log on to your i with an account with high authority. (Is *ALLOBJ required? Does anyone know?)

  4. type the following:

    • CALL QP2TERM
    • cd /tmp
    • uncompress htmldoc-1.8.27-pase.tar.Z
    • cd /
    • tar xf /tmp/htmldoc-1.8.27-pase.tar

At this point, the htmldoc software should be installed. Check out the documentation in /QOpenSys/usr/local/share/doc for documentation.
