I'm parsing a document which contains the US dollar symbol $ but when it
gets parsed/converted it becomes the UK pound symbol Ł. When I try to parse
a document with the UK pound symbol it causes the program to crash with a
message about an ill-formed token.

I assume you mean the XML parsing routines in HTTPAPI?

If so, what version of HTTPAPI are you using, and are you using CCSIDs or tables for your translations?
