FTP from HP3000

I have some control characters (tab, line feed etc) embedded in the data
file on HP3000. When I FTP this file onto windows the output file record
size and number of records get increased becuase of these characters. Is
there a way I can FTp the file in the same state as it is present on
HP3000.
