RE: PDF's on IFS

I've had success with manually dragging it out of Navigator and with FTP in binary, but as suggested , I think it should be available from /tmp. The overriding consensus seems to be that if my conversion worked correctly I should be able to pull it up from /tmp.

You may want to try the midrange-l list on this.
I tried these three methods to get a pdf from my i to my client:
1 - ftp in binary
2 - iNav's File systems
3 - Dragging from shared drive on i to client Afterwards I was able to open up all three.

People on the midrange-l might be able to see if there is a share property which needs to be set, or, if you have the CCSID set improperly on that file.

Hi All,

I have successfully incorporated Scott's FULLELEM program to take an XML
input stream containing a .pdf, and write the .pdf to the IFS. Beyond
that, I'm fumbling with what to do next...

If I browse to the file in the associated Windows directory
(/tmp/fname.pdf), Adobe won't recognize my file, but if I FTP it or drag
it out of iSeries Navigator to my desktop it's fine.

In the Ideal World the RPG code would create it in the IFS as a file
viewable by Adobe. Does FTP need to create the PDF on the windows side to
give Adobe the attributes it requires on the file? (where currently there
are no useable attributes) ?

Can someone explain why this step is necessary? If this is possible in
RPG, has anyone had any success?

Thanks in advance.
