I completely agree with Mike. If you want to go with POI, you best use a 
batch server to process your request. Otherwise you need to start a JVM for 
each job that wants to produce an Excel sheet, which will significantly hit 
your performance.

If you want to use POI you may also want to have a look at 'AppServer4RPG', 
that you can use to process your requests:
