A number of people are using IBMiUnit as well as one or two others. This branch https://github.com/worksofliam/IBMiUnit is several commits ahead of the one you referenced and will incorporate easily with the Code for i extension to VS code.

Try asking this on RPG400 list at midrange.com as there are many folks there who use such tooling.
